Nzinga of Ndongo and Matamba

(c. 1583 - December 17, 1663)

Also known as Nzinga Mbande or Ana de Sousa Nzinga Mbande. She was a 17th Century queen of the Ndongo and Matamba Kingdoms of the Mbundu people in southwestern Africa.

According to the Marquis de Sade's The Bedroom Philosophers, she declared a law of "vulgivulguability" (on pain of death women were to make themselves available at all times for sex).

She executed her lovers as soon as she finished with them as an "honor" to their love.
